How we learn

One of the most important pillars and ultimate goals Andrée English School has established during its existence has been to provide students with the necessary tools to become bilingual in English and Spanish. Therefore, our English Program has been improved over the years to ensure that students’ linguistic competence is high enough to be effortlessly involved in a globalized world. Moreover, from Pre-K to 6th Grade, most subjects are taught in English, which maximizes students’ exposure to the second language.

The core of our English program is based on the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, which provides thorough descriptions of the level of proficiency our students need to achieve by the time they finish Primary and Secondary education. Additionally, our students sit for Cambridge International Examinations at the end of each stage, which seeks to achieve successful and certified communicative language performance.

In terms of teaching methodology, our English program is characterized by its counter-balanced approach, which allows us to develop spontaneous oral production as well as more specialized linguistic knowledge. Furthermore, all the other subjects which are taught in English use Content and Language Integrated Learning (CLIL) methodology, which aims at developing both the second language and the disciplinary content simultaneously. Finally, in the last few years, we have also implemented Project-based Learning, especially in Middle and Senior School, where students use their language skills to develop highly demanding projects on various academic topics.
